10/29/2010: Today the P.O.L.A.H.S. Girls' Basketball Program participated in the annual Octoberfest which is held at Bloch Field in San Pedro, Ca. This year, the girls sold an assortment of desserts; cup cakes, brownies, cookies, cheesecakes, empanada, MnM Cookies, flan, you name it, we had it, and we sold it. We collected 800 tickets today with the help from all the team members, and especially from one Drucilla Gonzalez who set the bar for the amount of desserts to sell at Octoberfest. I think at one point, she collected close to 30 tickets on one sale.Great job Dru!!! Way to sell those cup cakes. And great job to all of our team members as well. Thank you for baking all those goodies.
Aside from selling desserts all day, it was great to see the whole student body having a great time, listening to some good music, participating in jousting matches, bouncing in jumpers, and showcasing their shuffling skills by home plate on the baseball field. It was also great to see all of the administration interacting with the students and having a great time themselves. I look forward to attending next year, and this time we'll collect 1600 tickets!
